The Pricing, Systems & Analytics department in Corporate Underwriting equips MunichRE’s Underwriting with methods and tools to efficiently understand, price, and manage Non-life risks. Specifically, our tools support operative underwriting units in sustainably structuring and steering MR’s non-life business.

The Underwriting Analytics team is a part of this department and concentrates on the analytical and reporting aspects of this goal which is pursued in close cooperation with operative underwriting. We create solutions that meet internal as well as external requirements on reporting and data analysis. Pricing basics (e.g. exposure curves, tariffs) are being developed that support underwriters in quantifying risk. And finally, we work on designing a future management and analysis system for exposure and loss data (ANDEX). We use traditional actuarial methods as well as modern algorithm-based approaches

Your job

  • Performing evaluations and supporting operative units on analysis questions, e.g. for customer portfolio analyses
  • Be an expert and contact partner for content issues with regard to MunichRE underwriting data
  • Helping to improve existing reporting and analysis options for Underwriting purposes, in cooperation with analytics experts throughout MunichRE
  • Develop dashboards, automated reporting and interactive data visualizations using BI software and other tools, ensure reliable and efficient delivery across the company
  • Supporting underwriters mastering these tools.
  • Researching new possibilities for more efficient risk assessment and pricing, using advanced (partially automatable) techniques
  • Prepare data and analysis of Underwriting specific data available at MunichRE

Your profile

  • Degree in mathematics, statistics, natural sciences or equivalent qualification
  • Experience in working with and analyzing large amounts of data, using modern analytic tools
  • Experience in underwriting reinsurance risks
  • Database and preferable programming skills (e.g. R, Python, PowerBI, SQL)
  • Willingness to quickly learn and develop specialist knowledge of relevant requirements and to translate this knowledge into practical methods
  • Creative and target oriented way of working
  • Independent working mode with high level of reliability and up to high quality demands
  • Ability to explain complicated issues to a non-conversant audience
  • Team player with very good communication skills
  • Highly self-motivated, didactic and intercultural competence
  • Very good command of oral and written English
